We had the opportunity to test out the Sky Bed Bug Free hammock out in the woods. In this review, we’ll share our honest, unbiased review.

What makes the Sky Bed Bug Free different when compared to others hammocks we have tried is that it lays very flat, is super comfortable and offers built in insulation from the cold. If you’re looking for a high quality netted camping hammock - you should take a closer look at this one:

The Sky Bed Bug Free is made using a smooth feeling rip stop material which is also very breathable.  This is also important during the hot months to make sure that you don’t get super sweaty.

The Sky Bed Bug Free comes complete with built in mosquito netting.  This no see um mesh is really high quality as it keeps out the all bugs but its strong enough not to rip or tear.   The hammock has a 160 kg weight capacity, so you should have no worries about its strength. The entire hammock folds away into the attached stuff sack that also doubles up as a pocket when the hammock is in use.

The key feature of this hammock is its asymmetrical design with a silver sleeve in the sweet spot to insert an inflatable pad into the hammock.  The pad doesn’t come with the hammock, but there are lots of pads you can use.  We used the NeoAir Trekker from Therm-a-Rest.  Once you insert your inflatable pad into the silver sleeve, the hammock becomes really bed like as the pad is fixed and cannot move around as in a conventional camping hammock.   Not only does the pad provide a flatter lay but the pad also provides insulation from the cold.  Due to the asym design and the ability lay down diagonally, this hammock is the most comfortable camping hammock we have ever experienced.

The Sky Bed Bug Free can also be used without the inflatable pad, but it’s way more comfy if you use one.

The Sky Bed Bug Free is easy to set up.  It come with 250 cm of good quality 3mm cord to help hang the netting above your bed space and 250 cm of 6mm climbing rope on each end to hang the hammock.  If you are hanging this hammock from trees as we did then I would get a set of tree straps.  Hammock Bliss offers 3 models of tree straps and we used their Extra Long Straps which worked great. 

For us, there are only two big things every hammock should offer - ease of use and comfortability.  That along with the fact that this hammock provides an exceptionally flat and insulated experience when used with an inflatable pad.
